Dataset for precision v. adaptive CSN motor learning

2 Photon data set is located in the folder labeled calcium imaging. Individual mouse data sets are organized based on behavioral task: Adaptive, precision, or non-learners. Each individual mouse has a 'DFF' file which contains the raw flourescent traces of all cells at all timepoints used in the final data set. The 'Force' files contain the mototrak voltage outputs from all behavioral sessions analyzed.

Force and DF/F data can be paired by time point and visualized using 'processDFF_Adaptive.m' or 'processDFF_Isopull.m' in MATLAB. The Adaptive script is used for adaptive behavior and isopull is used for both precision and non-learners.

Any force data can be analyzed using the 'free_move_correlation.m' script. This will output the correlation between pulls for the chosen session.

The remaining files in the parent folder contain all the data used to produce the results as they are named. For example, 'Success_Rate.xlsx' contains all the data used for success rate plots.

MATLAB scripts were written and data were processed in version R2020b (MATLAB 9.9)

Description The learning of motor skills relies on plasticity of the primary motor cortex as task acquisition drives the remodeling of cortical motor networks. Large scale cortical remodeling of evoked motor outputs occurs in response to the learning of precise, corticospinal-dependent behavior, but not simple, imprecise tasks. Here we determine the response of corticospinal neurons to both precise and imprecise motor training and assess the role of corticospinal neuron activity in the execution of the trained behaviors.
