Participants (n=66) were randomly assigned to either the nicotine or placebo group and, after drug administration, engaged in a costly avoidance behavior task involving choosing paths with different lengths and numbers of aversive outcomes. The experiment included three phases: acquisition (50% chance of aversive outcome), uninstructed extinction (0% chance, not informed), and forced extinction (0% chance, informed), with each condition presented multiple times across these phases.

50 healthy male participants underwent a context-dependent cue conditioning paradigm: acquisition (Day 1) and extinction (Day 2). Analyses focused on the acquisition phase. Plasma concentrations of AEA, 2-AG, and AA were examined during acquisition, with blood samples taken before and after training. Fear ratings (continuous) and US-expectancy (binary) were recorded using a Visual Analogue Scale. Skin conductance responses were measured. The whole study took place in the fMRI scanner.

In this online study, 202 participants completed fear acquisition (ACQ) on day 1 and fear generalisation (GEN) on day 2. Conditioned stimuli (CS) were two black rings; for GEN, 8 stimuli (GS2-GS9) with 15% size increments between CS+ and CS- were used. Unconditioned stimuli consisted of unpleasant and neutral pictures. 4 groups were tested: non-smokers, smokers who stopped smoking 6h post-ACQ, smokers who smoked post-ACQ, and smokers who smoked pre-ACQ. Additional analyses compared smokers and non-smokers.

This repository consists of fear/discomfort/physical arousal ratings from before/after observational threat acquisition and generalisation. Further subjects rated their safety/danger towards generalised stimuli. Also movement data from a subsequent avoidance task are uploaded. These data can be found as .csv files. Analyses were performed in R. Associated scripts for the ratings, as well as for the avoidance task, are uploaded as .R files. 90 healthy human subjects participated in this online study.

This repository consists of fMRI-imaging data in form of beta/con images for different analyses of each subject, as well as .csv files of subjective ratings and SCR data for each subject. Subjects underwent a fear conditioning protocol with a fear acquisition (ACQ) on day 1 and 24 hours later an extinction training (EXT) with subsequent return of fear manipulation. Group 1 received nicotine before ACQ, Group 2 received nicotine before EXT, Group 3 received Placebo before both days.
