Data_LeverHold
Arena: open-top 30 × 26 × 40 cm glass cage.
A 2 × 12 mm infusion cannula, to which we glued a 7-mm diameter three-dimensional (3D)-printed ball, served as a lever. The lever was clamped to a holder via a strain gauge 1 cm above the cage floor. To deliver tactile stimulation, we clamped to the lever a piezo actuator.
The Rat is self initiating a trial via touching of the lever. This is encoded as "trialInitiation" in EvtL.
The rat has to push the lever to a side and hold it there. After 600 or 1600 ms there is a vibration cue trough the lever. ("PiezoOn" in EvtL.) The rat now has to release the lever. If the lever is released within 600 ms the rat receives a water reward. ("pumpActivation" in EvtL). The waiting time is randomized, but same waiting period is kept if the trial was not successfull.
In some trial a laser stimulation is given around the piezoOn ("laserOn" to "laserOff" in EvtL).
"trialTermination" is after the end of the reward consumption for a successfull trial or when the lever is released too early/ or too late. The last trialTermination timepoint might be missing, if the system was stoped during a trial.
ContBehav.AngleEncoder contains the measured position of the lever. Can be used to infer more detail information about lever press/ release.
