  33. This repository accompanies the manuscript Radtke-Schuller et al. Brain, Structure and Function 2020, and contains

  35. provides high-quality histological material for identification of brain structures in

  41. NADPH-diaphorase, Acetylcholine-esterase and Nissl
  42. Each atlas plate combines high-resolution images of frontal sections alternately stained for
  43. cells (Nissl) and myelinated fibers (Gallyas) at 49 rostrocaudal levels, at intervals of 350 µm.
  44. To facilitate comparisons with other species, brain structures were named according to the widely
  45. accepted Paxinos nomenclature and previous neuroanatomical studies of other bat species.
  46. The additional high-resolution images of Phyllostomus discolor brain sections are taken
  47. from a series of 40 µm thick sections with neighboring sections stained for NADPH-diaphorase,
  48. Acetylcholine-esterase and Nissl. Sections are uncorrected for shrinkage. Each set of 3 sections
  49. iterates at 160 µm anterior-posterior distance. The series was cut at an angle slightly deviating
  50. from that of the atlas brain.
