  1. The data were stored in BrainVision Format. The following stimuli were used:
  2. -> R1 – this stimulus should not normally appear – if it does, it is likely a reaction to a goat
  3. -> R2 – true - expected reaction to a sound assigned correctly to an animal (a dog barks or a cat mews)
  4. -> R3 – false - expected reaction to a sound assigned incorrectly to an animal (a dog mews or a cat barks )
  5. -> S1 – standard stimulus (a goat bleats) - non-target the measured participant should not respond
  6. -> S2 – a dog barks - target – should be followed by the R2 marker
  7. -> S3 – a cat mews - target - should be followed by the R2 marker
  8. -> S4 – a cat barks - target - should be followed by the R3 marker
  9. -> S5 – a dog mews - target - should be followed by the R3 marker
  10. -> S11 – a marker that denotes an occurrence of the standard stimulus (non-target) after the S2 stimulus
  11. -> S12 – a marker that denotes an occurrence of the standard stimulus (non-target) after the S3 stimulus
  12. -> S13 – a marker that denotes an occurrence of the standard stimulus (non-target) after the S4 stimulus
  13. -> S14 – a marker that denotes an occurrence of the standard stimulus (non-target) after the S5 stimulus
  14. Note: The S11 - S14 stimuli are typically ignored in the phase of analysis because they could distort the results.
  15. Probabilities of occurrences:
  16. S1 – 70%
  17. S2 – 15%
  18. S3, S4, S5 – 5%
  19. The following files were stored:
  20. Data files:
  21. -> Auditory_ERP_gender_date_id.eeg - a binary file containing raw data
  22. Header files:
  23. -> Auditory_ERP_gender_date_id.vhdr - a text file containing metadata describing raw data in the .eeg file
  24. -> Auditory_ERP_gender_date_id.vmrk - a text file containing markers used in the experiment
  25. Recording Software
  26. For recording and storing the EEG/ERP data, the BrainVision Recorder 1.2 was used. The Recorder was initialized using the following parameters:
  27. 1) the sampling rate was set to 1 kHz
  28. 2) the number of channels was set to 19
  29. 3) the resolution was set to 0.1 µV
