#38 Extend openephys files to "binary" default format

Hi guys,

I have a smallish Open Ephys binary file of a Neuropixels recording (I think @sprenger has the same).

Can I make a PR to add it or is it too large?

Cheers Alessio

Hi @Alejoe91,

if we are talking about the same dataset, then one of the two continuous data files still has a size of 23MB. Do you think it would be possible to replace this e.g. by a duplication of the other (smaller) file or shorten this file a bit?

@apdavison & @samuelgarcia: Do you agree to #37 or how should we proceed from now on with PRs for this repository?

Hi Julia,

I would have to ask Josh Siegle for another shorter dataset..this is already 1s.

Can we make an exception to the 10Mb rule given the git-annex update?

Let me know. I can then amke a PR as suggested in https://gin.g-node.org/NeuralEnsemble/ephy_testing_data/pulls/37

Hi Alessio. If you create this, could you name the folder "openpehysbinary" to mtach the new class "OpenEphysBinaryIO" ?

@samuelgarcia: This should be closed via https://gin.g-node.org/NeuralEnsemble/ephy_testing_data/pulls/39 ,right?

Hi @Alejoe91, I would be also interested in test examples dataset with spikes and waveforms. It seems the video tracking dataset has spike files, but there are no spike times or waveforms contained. Do you have access to a dataset that has these features and can provide it?

Hi @sprenger

I can ask for a test example with spike sorted data. I'm not sure waveforms are saved in the binary OE format. We can check that!

@Alejoe91 Thanks! In the format specifications a spike_waveforms.npy is listed (https://open-ephys.github.io/gui-docs/User-Manual/Recording-data/Binary-format.html) This would be interesting to include.

@sprenger I do have a test file. Should I send it to you via email?

@Alejoe91 If it's not directly suited for adding in this repository, then yes please. Alternatively, I can also add it later after testing it first. Thanks!

Yes I think it can be added. Not sure it has more than one unit, but it has a spike group with spike_waverofms.npy
