Scheduled service maintenance on November 22
On Friday, November 22, 2024, between 06:00 CET and 18:00 CET, GIN services will undergo planned maintenance. Extended service interruptions should be expected. We will try to keep downtimes to a minimum, but recommend that users avoid critical tasks, large data uploads, or DOI requests during this time.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
This is an completely subjective observation, but I have the feeling that this gin server is exhibiting growing time delays when accessing the webinterface or the datasets via the gin-cli. Did anybody else observe similar effects? If this is caused by a recent change on the server side, is it possible to revert this change or reduce the server delay by other means?
GIN's storage backend is currently being upgraded and restructured, and for technical reasons performance is reduced during this time. This can lead to response delays in times of high server load. The process will be finished in a few weeks and then such issues should not occur any more.
Sorry for the inconveniences.
@sprenger the performance should have increased again. Please let us know, if you are experiencing any further issues.
Thanks for coming back to this. I didn't run a systematic comparison of the performance before and after, but on a first glance it doesn't look like the performance improved in the last 2 weeks. However, there might be additional factors affecting my observations, as this is based on download time of files using github actions.
The times to compare would be the last week (since July 14) to the time before. If there are any logs, it would be interesting to get numbers for such regular downloads. We see that GIN's performance is back to normal, but often the remote connection is the bottleneck.
