README.md

This repository includes the data underlying the results published in "The amplitude in periodic neural state trajectories underlies the tempo of rhythmic tapping" by Jorge Gámez, Germán Mendoza, Luis Prado, Abraham Betancourt & Hugo Merchant. All files are in MAT-file format for Matlab.

SCT/data_SCT.mat file contains the underlying data for the SCT task data in figures 1d, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f, 2g, 2h, 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, 6e, 6f, 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b, 9c, 9d, 9e, 9f, 10e, 10f, 10g, S2 Fig, S3 Fig and S5 Fig. Each array element is a neuron, defined as a structure with the fields: Mtimes, contains the times when the monkey tapped the button in milliseconds, Stimes contains the times when the stimuli was presented (first 4 stimuli, synchronization condition) or would have been presented (last 3 stimuli, continuation condition) in milliseconds, and Spike_times contains the times when the neuron fired during the trial. Mtimes, Stimes and Spike_times are organized as cell arrays: target interval x repetition, where the row number defines the target interval as 1=450ms, 2=550ms, 3=650ms, 4=850ms, 5=1000ms, and each cell is a trial.

ST/data_5717_ST.mat and ST/data_6809_ST.mat files contain the underlying data for ST task in figures 4a,4c,4d,4e,4f,4g,4h,5c,5d and S4a Fig. The structure of the data is similar to SCT/data_SCT.mat. Mtimes, Stimes and Spike_times are organized as cell arrays: target interval x repetition, where the row number defines the target interval as 1=450ms, 2=550ms, 3=650ms, 4=750ms, 5=850ms, 6=950ms, and each cell is a trial.

SRTT/data_5718_SRTT.mat and SRTT/data_6808_SRTT.mat files contain the underlying data for SRTT task in figures 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f and S4b Fig. The structure of the data is similar to SCT/data_SCT.mat. Mtimes, Stimes and Spike_times are organized as cell arrays where each cell is a trial. There is not an organization by target interval in these datasets.

ST/video_6809_ST file contains contain the underlying video data for ST task in figures 5c, 5d, 5e and 5f. Each video was acquired at 30fps and shows the movement of the hand of the monkey from the first to the last tap during one trial of the ST task. The data is organized as a cell array: target interval x repetition, where the row number defines the target interval as 1=450ms, 2=550ms, 3=650ms, 4=750ms, 5=850ms, 6=950ms, and each cell is a trial.
